Interview Technique

Here are a few ideas when you interview someone for a story.

1. Disarm - put your interviewee at ease, try and talk about a different subject to the one you intend to interview them about.

2. Pussy Foot - make your first question fairly safe and easy to answer, this will build confidence in your interviewee.

3. Killer Question - bury your killer question in amongst other more innocuous questions.

4. Listen - listen to what they are saying, nothing worse then asking a question they have already answered.

5. Structure - in your mind you might have worked out how you want the interview to run, don't be afraid to change particularly if the interviewee starts to talk about a more interesting related subject.
