Ironically The Leveson Report into Press Standards copy and pasted info from Wikipedia, including the fact that some American Prankster claimed to be the founder of The Independent Newspaper. This is an example of - 'just because it's on the internet, it must be true.' You would have thought that a Judge would know better than to rely on Wiki as a sound source for facts.
My favourite example is of the kid who wrote a thesis on Iraq that was allegedly used by the UK Government in the September Document on Weapons of Mass Destruction. We had him (the kid) on as a guest he said not only was he surprised they used it, as it was a poor thesis, but they had not bothered to correct his spelling mistakes!
So remember to check your sources before you publish, just I have done by looking up all the facts mentioned in this blog on Wikipedia....er!
