Three is a magic number

Beginnings, middles and ends form the foundation of successful writing. The holy trinity of fictional structure in most books, films and TV and they can be applied equally to radio.


Everything you do whether it’s a news bulletin, whole radio show, ad or promo should have a beginning middle and end. Sounds simple and obvious but its easy to forget.

All of life is a story and whether it is a news bulletin or a radio show you need to tell your story. That means structure – for example; Insert numbered bullets on the page 1, 2 and 3. Then write your beginning, at 3 write your end and in the middle at 2 think of a new direction your show can go.
