Exploding Champagne

Rather screwed up the new millennium as our precious bottle of ITN Champagne was left out of the fridge to long and when the moment almost came for the popping of the cork I brought the bottle in to LBC Presenter Steve Allen and plonked it down beside him.

Plonking was a mistake, the bottle's cork shot out - hit the ceiling and the contents of the bottle emptied themselves onto Steve Allen, the screaming from Mr Allen made quite good radio but we were left with a few empty glasses to wish the new century in, hope your toast to the New Year 2014 goes a bit better.

(By the way we did get an awful lot of £££ for working that night - enough for a two week holiday in the sun later in 2000)
